Another Tweak to the Mobile App

Our mobile app is a continuous work in Progress.  We will always look for ways to communicate with the members of our community.  Studies have shown that people who own a smart phone look at their phone every 6 to 8 minutes.

During the last 8 months we have looked at ways to reach the community.  We started with Facebook and push all the Facebook Posts to Twitter.  We added a blog which can be accessed from the internet for those who do not use Facebook or Twitter.  We recently added a Shutterfly account so we can post a series of photos and videos to the web.

All these functions plus more can be accessed through our Mobile App called Middleton Police.  If you own a smart phone with either the Android Operating System or IPhone App, you can search in the App stores for Middleton Police and Download the App.

Our Mobile App can send Emergency Alerts and copy those Emergency Alerts to the Blog, Facebook and Twitter at a single push of a button.  Recently during the Missing Person Search, we hit 6000 users in 15 minutes of Time.

Our Posted Blogs have been read over 12,000 times.

Today I added a button to the mobile app which will allow the user to send us Anonymous Tips.  No user information is stored.  This allows people to send us suspicious activity reports and still remain anonymous.  We still prefer you to email or call as we can get back to you if we need more information however we understand the desire to sometimes not get involved.

We do not and will not track any user location or identity in the mobile app.

In the future we will look at adding a section for wanted persons.  Please also check out the www section of the mobile app.  Here you will find some useful information.  We added a link to a scanner in this section which works on Android Phones only.  You can also take a quick look at the Town Website, Police, Fire and Town Facebook Sections as well as find links to the Board of Selectmen Meeting Minutes.

As time goes on we will continue to look for ways to improve our communications.  Comments or suggestions are always welcome at tbrown@ne.twcbc.com
