Driver Seriously injured in Middleton Crash

On 02-14-2014 at approximately 12:54 members of the Middleton Police Department as well as the Middleton Fire and Rescue responded to Silver Street for a reported motor vehicle collision.

Preliminary Investigation indicates that:

Paul Drake (Age 71)
318 Silver Street
Middleton, N.H.

was operating a 1992 Chevy Pick Up Truck on Silver Street towards Farmington.  Drake crested a hill and drove over some slush in the roadway causing him to lose control and cross into the oncoming lane at which point he struck a 2005 Dodge Caravan operated by:

Randy Talon (Age 51)
33 Lincoln Road
Middleton, N.H.

The pick up truck continued up a snowbank and struck several trees.  Mr. Talon and a passenger were uninjured in the crash.

Mr. Drake suffered serious undisclosed injuries.  A helicopter was requested for transport and a landing zone was established at New England Furniture in Farmington.  The helicopter attempted a flight but was turned back due to wind conditions.

Mr. Drake was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester by the Farmington Ambulance and Frisbie Memorial Hospital Paramedics.  Assisting at the scene was the Farmington Fire Department and their ambulance.

Mr. Drake's vehicle was towed from the scene and a cat inside of the truck was transported by police to Cocheco Veterinary Hospital in Farmington.

Preliminary Investigations indicates that speed, alcohol or drugs were not involved in this collision.
